A day in Palermo

So, yesterday I finally made it to Palermo!
It's a very interesting city to visit, but the most interesting thing to see there is, for sure, the Capuchin catacombs. If you plan to visit Sicily, you can't skip that place!

It's nice too, to walk around the center of the city. It has a lot of monumental buildings, it's very full of turists and souvenirs shops, very chaotic... but nice.

... and of course, like every city in Sicily, there is a lot of veeeeeeeery good food!!

(That was the best Setteveli in the world!!)

I won't post pictures of mummies because not everyone would be happy to see them, but if you want to know more about the mummies of Palermo you should google "Palermo cappuccini mummie" or something similar. And, if you can understand Italian, you can take a look at the official website.

And... something I recenly sent!

  2. Wow, I'm happy to hear that you've made it to Palermo at last!! ^0^ I want to see your photos of mummies later ^.^ Awww, the sweets <3<3 I suppose if I ever come to Sicily (I suppose I will ^^) the plane won't be able to fly because of my newly gained weight... But who cares about weight if you can have those berry tartes??! Your photos of those buildings are also awesome ^^ As for letters ~ I will write you back when I'm finished with uni (that means after tomorrow) ^0^ Hugs, xx

  3. @ Fabi:
Eh eh, I didn't post any picture of them for that reason. Someone could be scared or too impressed by them... I have to say, I'm not... at least, not in a bad way. To walk inside the catacombs was interesting, a bit weird, but not scary for me...
Take your time for the letter. :)

    @ Darja:
Yay, I finally made it! XD
Oh, actually I haven't taken pictures inside catacombs, because that is very very forbitten! Well, just one! XD If you want, you can google the name of the place ("Catacombe dei Cappuccini, Palermo") and you'll find a lot of pictures.
When you'll be here, I'll take you to the best bars of Catania and they're SO full of that kind of sweets that for sure you'll gain weight! XDD A legend says that, when you visit Sicily, you always gain at least 5 chilos!! (and that's true, I must say.)
Waaah, you're right, it's already almost the day of your exam! Be strong be strong, you're almost done! Let me know how it went!! <3

  4. OMG Italian food is simply amazing!!

These pictures of yours brought me memories of my time in Edinburgh, Scotland (8 years living there!). In the neighbourhood called Leith there is a Sicilian pastry shop (run by a Sicilian family) and in Old Town another wee shop run by another Sicilian family and they sell the best soups and sandwiches I have ever tried! YUM!!!

And by the way I noticed on your previous entry you were wondering if that was usual for books in the UK to be so cheap. The answer is yes :) going in a second-hand bookshop there is always a temptation because you can get novels in really good condition for 2 or 3 British pounds.
I once got ... 17 novels! for fifteen pounds which is wonderful compared to Spain where a hardback novel costs between 15 and 20 euros :(

    Palermo looks lovely!

  6. Palermo is such an interesting city and its food too as you had posted in this blog. I agree that you didn't posted the pictures of the Catacombs since it can be morbid or eerie to some readers, though its the most interesting spot in the city.
